IMPORTANT: Changes to Smoke Alarm Laws
IMPORTANT DATES
Jan 1, 2017
Every new or substantially modified residence will need to be fitted with photoelectric, interconnected smoke alarms. Any smoke alarm replaced after Jan 1, 2017 must be a photoelectric unit.
Jan 2022
All houses built before 2017 which are leased or sold, have until Jan 2022 to comply with new regulations.
Jan 2027
All owner-occupied private residences have until Jan 2027 to comply.
